Haiwang Yuan

is Emeritus Professor of Western Kentucky University in the US and Guest Professor of English at Nankai University, China. He is a writer, translator and translation consultant. He has authored and co-authored many books, including Encyclopedia of Chinese Ethnic Peoples, Tibetan Folktales, Princess Peacock: Tales from the Other Peoples of China, The Magic Lotus Lantern and Other Tales from the Han Chinese, and This Is China: The First 5,000 Years. Among around two dozen of the books he has translated and co-translated are Songs from the Forest by Zhang Wei, Open-Air Cinema by Su Tong, The Sons of the Red Lake by Zhou Daxin, and There Is a Fish in the Desert by Zhao Benfu. He was a translation consultant on two titles recently published by Sinoist Books.
