Howard Goldblatt is the translator of more than fifty works in Chinese, including the novels of Nobel laureate Mo Yan, for which he received a Guggenheim Fellowship. A former academic, his translations have won two Man Asia Literary Prizes. He has received two grants from the National Endowment of the Arts.

As a team, Goldblatt and Sylvia Li-chun Lin have translated more than a dozen novels and collections by writers from China and Taiwan, including Notes of a Desolate Man by Chu Tien-wen, chosen as 1999 Translation of the Year by the American Literary Translators Association, and Three Sisters by Bi Feiyu, which won the second annual Man Asia Literary Prize. They live, work and cycle in Lafayette, Colorado with their neurotic cat.
