How do two Henan authors take such different paths to success?

Join us for an exclusive lecture held by Liu Zhenyun and Liang Hong, two of China’s premier storytellers, as they talk about their newest literary titles in translation. We’ll explore their writing process, how they produced their works and more.

Held in collaboration with the School of Oriental and African Studies, we’re excited to introduce two premier Chinese authors to the English reading public.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Liu Zhenyun is an author of novels, short stories and screenplays. His honours and awards are numerous, including the Mao Dun Literature Prize and France’s Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Liang Hong is an award-winning writer, essayist and professor. She is known for her trailblazing focus on rural people’s stories.

Dr Cosima Bruno is Reader in Chinese Literature at SOAS University of London, UK. She is the author of Between the Lines: Yang Lian’s Poetry through Translation (2012), and co-editor (with Francesca Tarocco) of The anthology of contemporary Chinese fiction Made in China (2008). She has published literary translations and several essays on contemporary Chinese, Sinophone, and bilingual poetry.
