Join us in the beautiful Portico Library in Central Manchester for a fascinating discussion between Liang Hong, Liu Zhenyun and Peter Gries on some of the best upcoming Chinese literature in translation.
Manchester China Institute (MCI) and Sinoist Books are thrilled to introduce the two premier Chinese authors to the English reading public, in a conversation moderated by MCI Director, Peter Gries.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
- Liu Zhenyun is an author of novels, short stories and screenplays. His honours and awards are numerous, including the Mao Dun Literature Prize and France’s Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
- Liang Hong is an award-winning writer, essayist, and professor. She is known for her trailblazing focus on rural people’s stories.
- Prof Peter Gries is the Lee Kai Hung Chair and Director of Manchester China Institute. He holds degrees from Middlebury, Michigan, and Berkeley, and has authored books and edited journals on China-US relations.
