Andrew Endrey studied Chinese language and literature at the University of Melbourne. He is passionate about the notion that translation of modern Chinese literature serves as a bridge between two cultures. Andrew currently lives in Perth, Western Australia and is an honorary Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia.
Andrew has taught Chinese to English translation at universities in Melbourne and Perth since 1989. As an Australian public servant from 1982 to 2008, he worked in a number of government departments involved in Australia-China relations
Andrew’s publications include a dictionary of contemporary Chinese economic terms, literary translations in refereed journals, and chapters in books on Chinese translation and Chinese politics. His awards include an Australia-China Council Residency Award at the University of Hong Kong and Australian Association of Literary Translation (AALITRA) award. Andrew’s research interests include modern Chinese literature post-1949.
