Xialin Ding

Xialin Ding, born in 1963 in Jiangsu Province, China, holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and recently retired from his Senior Associate Professorship of English at Nanjing Agricultural University (Nanjing City, China). From 2014 to 2015, Xialin worked as a Visiting Scholar in the English Department at the University of Texas, San Antonio. He has taught a wide array of courses and published extensively in his research field. While a graduate student at the Nanjing University–Johns Hopkins University Center for Chinese and American Studies, he co-translated Pearl Buck’s biography of her father The Fighting Angel into Chinese, displaying a strong desire to serve as a bridge between Chinese and American culture.

Since immigrating to the USA after retirement, he has become a member of NOTIS, the Northwest Translators and Interpreters Society headquartered in Seattle, Washington State. His interest in Mr. Ye Zhaoyan’s works in Chinese made it possible for him to know Mr. Andrew Endrey in Australia, who shares the same interest. The Road to Fatherhood is their first collaborative work.

He lives in Seattle, and works as a substitute teacher as well as interpreting for Mandarin speaking patients with limited English proficiency.
