Xie Wenwei was born in the same year as the founding of the People’s Republic of China, 1949. He was raised in Beijing before being sent to Inner Mongolia in 1969. At the end of the Cultural Revolution, he attended Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1984, he went to the US to study and then work. A dozen years later, he returned to China and founded the Beijing Oriental Cancer Research Centre. He is currently an expert advisor at Beijing Puxiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Cancer Hospital. Xie has published more than 10 books, including A TCM Doctor in the United States and My Mother Li Ruifen.
